Bonita, CA Realty

Bonita, California is a small unincorporated area located a little more than a half an hour southeast of San Diego. Since it is just a few miles inland from San Diego's Naval Base, Bonita enjoys a gentle breeze from the Pacific Ocean on most days. The Bonita area still maintains some of its rural and equestrian qualities. The Sweetwater River flows through the heart of Bonita on its way to San Diego Bay. The Sweetwater Reservoir, which was created by the final of three dams on the Sweetwater River, is located about 5 miles to the Northeast, off Route 55. A scenic five-mile hiking and equestrian trail runs along the southern border of the reservoir.

Sweetwater Regional Park is located at the eastern edge of the Bonita district. It offers sites for both tent camping and for motor homes. Some of the park's campsites have corrals for horses. At the western edge of Bonita, the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course is open to the public. The course has all the amenities of a private club. Many of Bonita's residents can be found walking on a popular hiking trail which circles the Chula Vista Course. The Bonita Long Canyon Park is another popular place to enjoy the Southern California sunshine.
